REHABILIATION OF IDPs-Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS

1526. DR.T.SUMATHY (a) THAMIZHACHI THANGAPANDIAN:

Will the Minister of EXTERNAL AFFAIRS be pleased to state:

(a) whether there are 8 lakh Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Sri
Lanka and they are predominantly Tamil speaking people;
(b) if so, the details thereof at present and the measures taken by the
Government to rehabilitate them in their respective IDP camps;
(c) whether the Government has handed over 50,000 houses and 10,000
bicycles to IDPs in Sri Lanka;
(d) if so, the details thereof and the amount spent for this purpose and
the time by which these houses would actually be constructed and handed
over to the IDPs;
(e) the current status of progress of India’s assistance in several projects
in Northern and Eastern provinces in Sri Lanka; and 
(f) the time by which these infrastructure facilities would be completed?
