1426. DR. T. SUMATHY (a) THAMIZHACHI THANGAPANDIAN:

Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS be pleased to state:

(a) whether it is true that road commuters have to pay more toll amount per
a kilometer of journey on National Highways (NHs) in Tamil Nadu and
Karnataka as compared to the journey on NHs in other States;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the details of the toll levied per kilometer
for traveling on NHs in these two States in comparison to other major
States in the country having NH length of more than 3000 Kms;
(c) whether the Government received any requests from these two States
to withdraw the increased rate of toll and to stop collection of tolls at the
toll gates which are more than ten years old;
(d) if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government thereon;
and
(e) the details of the factors and the process of determining the fee to be
collected as toll?
