HIKE IN FUEL PRICES-MINISTER OF PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS

220. DR. T. SUMATHY (a) THAMIZHACHI THANGAPANDIAN:

Will the Minister of PETROLEUM AND NATURAL GAS be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the unprecedented price rise of petrol, diesel, and LPG during the last three years
and current year along with the reasons for the hike in the prices despite the second wave of Covid19 pandemic and steps taken to control/to uniform the prices of petroleum products across the
country;
(b) the details of the effect of price rise on the consumers in terms of GDP and inflation rate, if
so, the steps are taken to bring down the prices of these products along with policy to control the
prices?
(c) the details of the details of revenue and taxes generated by the Government through the
sale of petrol, diesel and LPG in the country during the last three years, year-wise and monthwise along with the usage of funds earned from petroleum products;
(d) the details of impacts on common people due to rise in the prices of petrol, diesel and
LPG cooking gas including the policies adopted by the Government to bring down it;
(e) the details of increase/decrease in the price of crude oil in international market and the
number of times the price of petroleum products came down/reduced in domestic market
during the said period and pass on benefits to the consumers in the country, year-wise;
(f) the details of percentage of crude imported to meet the demand along with the mechanism
adopted by the Government to examine the prices of petrol and diesel fixed by various
petroleum companies including private companies in conformity with the variation in the
international crude oil prices; and
(g) the details of new domestic cooking gas connections provided by the various marketing
companies during the last one year, State-wise and month-wise?
