SPECIAL MENTION (ZERO HOUR)

Title:  Request the government to conduct the Industrial Training Institutes (ITI), examination in regional languages including Tamil.

DR.T. SUMATHY (A) THAMIZHACHI THANGAPANDIAN (CHENNAI SOUTH):

Thank you, Speaker Sir, for allowing me to raise an important issue.

Sir, the Industrial Training Institutes oppose secondary schools in India constituted under Directorate General of Training which comes under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, which provides training in various traits particularly for the rural students who would like to get employment as fitter, electrician and motor mechanic. Exams are being conducted annually for all the various States but the exams are conducted only in English and Hindi languages.

The students from Tamil Nadu are finding it very difficult to attend these examinations because they have the option to answer only in English or Hindi. Due to the language barrier, they find it difficult while the native Hindi-speaking students have an edge in acquiring more marks, thereby securing job opportunities. This is unfair to other students. There is also a notification to introduce online examination from this year. I request the Ministry to conduct the ITI examination in regional languages including Tamil.
