WELFARE WORKS CARRIED OUT FOR THE FISHERMEN IN THE COASTAL STRETCH OF THE SOUTH CHENNAI CONSTITUENCY FROM PATTINAMPAAKAM TO
VETTUVANKENI:
1. On 07.11.2022, a field study was conducted in the areas of Kottivakkam and Palavakkam to understand the issue pertaining to the fisher women.
2. On 11.01.2023, under my initiative with the CSR funding from Mindera Pvt.,Ltd., and Kaay Labs, Umbrellas were given to 30 Fisher Women along with the participation of
Shozhinganallur MLA Thiru. Aravind Ramesh and Councillor Tamilarasi Somu.
3. A letter to Hon’ble Minister for Transport Thiru. Sivasankaran was presented with a representation of the ECR fish vendor community to start buses from Kovalam to T. Nagar
Via Siadapet.
4. On 20.02.2023, a field study was conducted at the Injambakkam Fishermen area along with Injambakkam Ward Councillor Vimala. A representation to expand the Post Office
at Injambakkam was given to the Senior Superintendent of Post Offices.
5. Conducted three consultative meetings in the month of November and December 2022 with Vrutti an NGO that focuses on the livelihood development of fishing folks.
