457. DR. T. SUMATHY (A) THAMIZHACHI THANGAPANDIAN:
Will the Minister of HEALTH AND FAMILY WELFARE be pleased to state:
(a) Whether it is a fact that Tamil Nadu is the most active state with regard to Deceased Donor programme and has got the best State award from National Organ tissue and Transplant Organization (NOTTO) and if so the details thereof;
(b) Whether the Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu (TRANSTAN) functions as Regional Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (ROTTO) and State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) by government of India (GOI) order and it so, the details thereof and the financial and administrative support provided by the Union Government for enhancing the performance of TRANSTAN;
(c) Whether it is a fact that Tamil Nadu has the highest number of hospitals with different organ transplant teams that are licensed for National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) and if so, the number of licensed and registered hospitals; and
(d) The effective steps taken or proposed to be taken by the government and its allied organizations to facilitate the Cadaver and live organ transplants for deserving patients in the country?
